ACOPOStrak Innovation Update 2026
This is a technical overview of the ACOPOStrak system — what we have had for a long time, as well as the innovations introduced.
1. System Architecture
-
The ACOPOStrak system is based on a long-stator linear motor, with two main components: the magnetic unit (rotor) and the segment (stator).
-
The magnetic unit comes in two sizes (45 and 90 mm), matching shuttle widths of 50 and 100 mm, and provides propulsion and attraction force.
-
Segments are fully welded stainless steel parts, available in five geometries: straight, curve entry, curve exit, circular arc, and compact curve. These allow layouts in two grid systems (660 mm and 330 mm).
-
Segments are available in IP65 (standard) and IP69K (washdown) protection, supporting demanding hygienic environments (e.g., dairy, poultry).
-
Segments can be cooled (liquid) or non-cooled (natural convection).
2. Shuttle and Guide System
-
Shuttles are available in two sizes, matching the magnetic unit.
-
Variants include single or double magnet (for diverting), with plastic or metal wheels.
-
Plastic wheels enable hot-swapping and a minimum product pitch of 50 mm.
-
Metal-to-metal wheels increase payload up to fivefold but do not support diverting.
-
The standard guide system uses stainless steel (1.4404); for metal wheels, hardened steel guides are used.
-
Lubrication options include automatic guide lubrication or an oil reservoir in the shuttle.
3. Customer Adaptation
- For applications with extreme hygienic or mechanical requirements, a customer design package allows users to design their own shuttle mechanics, following specified parameters (air gap, position, forces).
4. Software Layer
-
The system is controlled by the map track software layer, enabling advanced shuttle movement, synchronization, collision avoidance, diverter control, and shuttle count.
-
Focus is on simplicity and robustness, especially during line changes.
-
New function blocks are being developed to simplify and accelerate system deployment.
5. Technical Innovations
-
Metal-to-Metal Shuttle: Introduction of shuttles with metal wheels and rails, mechanically clamped and spring-loaded. This significantly increases payload (up to 10 kg for large shuttle) and dynamics (acceleration, curve speed), especially with the compact curve.
-
Compact Curve: New segment geometry with a smaller radius (330 mm), fully welded, always in washdown (IP69K) version, enabling higher density and throughput. Compatible with both metal and plastic wheels.
-
Hybrid Solution: Combines linear motor for dynamic sections and conventional transport (belt/chain) for simple transfer. The new approach allows contact between belt/chain and shuttle, reducing forces and increasing cost-effectiveness. A temporary “bridge” segment with limited dynamics and half the price is available until the full hybrid solution is released.
-
Safety and Collaboration: Patented solution enables safe human collaboration with the system using safe drives with limited speed and force.
6. Configuration and Support Tools
→ To discuss the best configuration for your application, get in touch with your sales representative.
-
The sales tool enables complete system configuration, including guide variants, segments, shuttles, and offer generation.
-
The system automatically checks component compatibility (e.g., washdown segments cannot be combined with standard guides).
-
Data packages with CAD models, assembly instructions, and software files for simulation and real operation are available.
7. Planned Extensions and Support
- Portfolio expansion is ongoing — ask your sales representative or join upcoming a technical webinar.
Conclusion:
ACOPOStrak offers a modular, highly customizable transport automation solution with a focus on modularity, dynamics, payload, and integration simplicity. New technical innovations (metal wheels, compact curve, hybrid solution) expand deployment options across industries and increase system competitiveness.
