Has anyone come up with a workaround for the perennial issue of Automation Studio/PVI not connecting to a PLC after the laptop goes to sleep or lid is closed. I know it has to do with an interaction of PVI and the computers physical network device.
When this happens PVI doesn’t reconnect, but AS may see the SNMP of the PLC, but can’t make an active connection. Closing/Restarting AS or PVI manager is usually the solution, but I was wondering if anyone had come up with different solution, maybe with a virtual network device.
(I’ve anecdotally noted if using a VPN tunnel like Ewon to the PLC, the connection can stay active through sleep/laptop closing. )
