Hey everyone!
wanted to share this guide on how to setup PARID an axis feature when using mapp Motion. This feature can be helpful when setting up encoder emulations, wanting to override warnings, or even ignore limit switches.
NOTE: If you are not too familiar with PARIDs or what PARIDs do what, I recommend referring to the PARID overview in the help explorer. B&R Online Help
NOTE: For more information on ACOPOS parameter tables see the following from the help explorer. ACOPOS parameter table
Step 1) Create a parameter table
First, you will need to add in a parameter table within the logical view of the project. Go to the toolbox and look for “ACOPOS Parameter Table”
![]()
Once inserted open the added file, and select the
option. Upon selecting the Parameters, the following icons will be enabled.
![]()
select the
icon to add a new parameter to the table.
You may then define/select the desired ParID that you are wanting to write to the drive/motor. for example, the PARID I will be adding is LIMIT_SWITCH_IGNORE.
Step 2) Create an Axis Feature
Next, you will need to create an axis feature, that will reference the parameter table that was just created. To add this file, go to the
folder within the Configuration View. Inside the toolbox, locate the “Axis Feature” file and add it to the mappMotion folder.
![]()
Open the axis feature file, and set the type to “ACOPOS Parameter table” the configuration should look like the following:

Select the file that was created in the logical view. In my example, the parameter table was named, “AcpParTab.” The configuration should look like the following:
Step 3) Drive Configuration
The final step is to add the Axis feature into the drive. In this example I have an ACOPOS P3. Locate the channel in which you would like to apply the axis feature. In this example, Channel 1 is selected.
Locate the Channel feature option and select the recently created axis feature file. The configuration should look like the following:

Step 4) Testing
You have now successfully implemented a PARID axis feature into your application. If you want to verify that the PARID is properly being written to, open mapp Cockpit and connect to the axis that the axis feature was applied towards. Read the PARID and verify that the correct value is being set. For information on using mappCockpit, see the following community posting.
