Murrelektronik Cube67 Configuration with B&R EtherCAT Master

Hello community,

I am trying to configure a Murrelektronik Cube67 system using a B&R X20IF10G1-1 EtherCAT master.

My setup is:

  • CPU: X20CP1685

  • Automation Studio: 6.7.0.187

  • Automation Runtime: 6.8.1.1

  • EtherCAT master: X20IF10G1-1

  • Bus node: Murrelektronik 56527 Cube67+ BN-EC

  • Connected I/O module: 56601 DIO16 E 8xM12

I downloaded the manufacturer’s ESI package, 56527_CUBE67+_KF4_x_14.zip, and imported its main file, Murrelektronik_Cube67_V2.xml, through DTM.

The import completes successfully, and I can add the Cube67 bus node to the hardware configuration. However, in Device Configuration → Modules, only the bus node appears and the “Add module” button is disabled. I cannot add the connected 56601 I/O module or the virtual branch modules.

The ESI package contains a main XML file and a subfolder with separate XML definitions for the expansion modules. The main file references these through InfoReference entries.

I extracted the complete ZIP and preserved its folder structure when importing the main XML. The behaviour remains the same.

Is there a specific import procedure in Automation Studio for modular EtherCAT ESI files with external module references?

  • Should the expansion-module XML files be imported separately?

  • Does this require a particular DTM version or additional installation step?

  • Has anyone successfully configured a Cube67 56527 with an X20IF10G1-1?

I have attached the original manufacturer ESI package and a screenshot of the Modules page.
