For some reason, I am unable to do an offline installation on a CFast.
I am using a dedicated industrial computer with one integrated CFast reader. This computer has a clean Windows install and a fresh Automation Studio (AS 4.8.7.28) install. After enabling the reader from BIOS, the CFast appears on Windows, and I am able to create, edit, and delete partitions on it, but Automation Studio does not detectthe CFast as a CFast…
At the moment, I have tried to:
Verify BIOS settings, nothing apart from enabling the peripheral and the hot plug
Run AS as Administrator
Remove all partitions on CFast
Create a new partition on CFast
Upgrade PVI to version 4.8.6.11
Any idea on what can cause the issue or what to look for?
Let me know if you need more specific information to help me.
As far as I remember AS cannot access “harddrives” do to the fact that you could overwrited fixed built in drives. I would say this could be your issue and you could test this if you use a USB adapter. If it then works we kjnow it is an issue with the “fixed” drive
Hi Oliver,
I have tested with a USB card reader, and it works. As you said, the issue is probably connected to the fact that AS detects the CFast reader integrated into the PC as a hard drive.
Is there a way to change this? BIOS or Windows parameter?
As you can see, the ATA port 3 is set as “Hot Plug” (as a removable device should be).
At this point, I think it is a Windows issue where it misinterprets BIOS information. At the moment, the only workaround is to use an external CFast card reader.
I will leave the thread open for a bit to see if anyone knows a fix for this; otherwise, an external reader is the only solution.
