I have an old machine with PP420 in need of online troubleshooting. The program was developed in AS2.5 and the original programmer is not available any more. The program left has the Ethernet port configured with DCHP server, but no specific configuration for the DHCP server. So, there is no IP address available for the controller. Now how can I connect to the controller to be online for troubleshooting? Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Hi and welcome!
In newer versions of Automation Studio, you can go to Online->Settings, browse for the PLC, and then set a temporary IP address. This allows you to connect to it and transfer any changes. I unfortunately do not have enough experience with AS 2.5 to know if this is possible in that version or not, but I wanted to mention it just in case.
Another idea would be to connect the PLC to a DHCP server temporarily so that it can receive an IP address. This could be a company network or your own router for example.
Hello Marcus,
Thank you very much for the reply. Unfortunately, AS2.5 does not have the browse function and I don’t think PP420 support it either. In the end, I was able to connect to it via RS232. That works for my troubleshooting. Appreciate you attentions.
