Program conversion -> safe logic (mapp safety?)

Hi everyone,

In AS3.0.90.41 i am using an PP65 PLC combined with safety modules (see below).

I want to replace the PP65 PLC → CP0484 + T50 panel and update to at least AS4.12.

Everything seems to work, but i cant figure out how to do the conversion on the safety modules.

Do i need Mapp safety for this?

It seems like some older hardware modules are not supported in Mapp safety?

(AS 3.0.90.41)

(AS 4.12)

Hello,

You can see SW System requirements for safety modulus in B&R website. I can see the X20SL8000 is definitely the limitation. It can be used up to the SafeDesigner version 3.0 and Safety Release up to 1.6.

Be also aware of Windows 11 compatibility of SafeDESIGNER.

Hello,

in your hardware Tree we can see that you replaced the X20SL8000 (which is discontinued) with the current X20SL8100. I think this was intentional because you also replaced some other Hardware to modernise the Equipment.

The X20SL8100 supports Safety Release 1.10 (Legacy Safety) as well as mapp Safety.
AS4.12. is supporting both Systems aswell.

So you can choose wether to stay with Safety Release or to upgrade to mapp Safety.
If you choose to Upgrade and replace the SafePLC you might look also into the Product Set of X20SLX , because with only 3 additional Safety moduls i think this small Safety PLC would be more cost effective.

Project Conversion Legacy to mappSafety

Selecting between the Safety worlds is done in the Change Runtime dialog

The Hardware module uses a Firmware 1.x for Safety Release and a Firmware 2.x for Mapp Safety.

Okay, thanks.

I switched to Mapp Safety because module X20SC2432 required a higher runtime version.

Then I also had to replace SL8000.

Hello

Thanks for the Feedback.

The X20SC2432 was introduced in Safety Release 1.9 and also available in last 1.10 Version , the SL8000 was only up to 1.6.

It is very important to replace the SL8000 because its discontinued and if you change something in the machine this is a good time.

But just from the numbers it should have been possible to stay with Safety Release 1.10.

Going with MappSafety is a good option.

Greetings
Michael
