Replacement servo motor

Can the servo motor type 8LSA56.E0030D000-1 be replaced with the type 8LSA55.EA030D000-1? or is there a type that can replace the servo motor?

Hello,

When I look at the order key of 8LS motors, I see that the .E0 and .EA motors have EnDat encoders.

.E0 appears as optical EnDat encoder, .EA as inductive EnDat encoder.

EnDat is a protocol that can automatically recognize motor types. If the encoder type is configured as EnDat in the channels to which these motors are connected, the motors should be automatically detected. However, the two motors are different from each other in terms of dimensions. I recommend that you check your mechanical dimensions here. The only thing you need to do on the Automation Studio is to configure the channels of your drivers as EnDat.

If without changing the program, is it possible for me to replace it with another type of servo motor?

If you have configured a driver channel as EnDat, you should not physically connect a motor here in the System Designer in the Physical View.

If you have a motor connected here and if you use a different motor, your hardware topology will not match your actual system. This will cause the motor not to be found by drive. If you have not configured it this way before, a different type of motor will not work.
