Add library for 8MS series engines

Hello everyone,
I have a question. I’m using Automation Studio software version 4.1 and I would like to start up the motor of the 8MS series, but it’s not available in the software’s library, and I can’t find the specific model on the B&R website to perform the upgrade manually. Could anyone help me?

Hello @Henrique_Araujo which exact motor type do you use? Can you provide the full order code?
If the motor is equipped with an EnDat encoder, the parameter list for operation on an ACOPOS servo drive is stored on the encoder chip and read during boot.
For such a case no parameters need to be inserted.

Attention: please be sure to not use the 8MS motor on a drive with higher DC bus than 560 VDC. Also, 8MS motors are not compatible with the high PWM rise time of ACOPOSmulti.
The 8MS motors are designed for 8V servo drives. Not following this rule might damage the motor winding.

Best regards
Lukas

I am using the 8MSA8L.E1-P10C motor, and I intend to drive it using the Acopos 8V1640.00-2 driver. I am also using the AC114 powerlink card.

Hello @Henrique_Araujo the motor is equipped with an EnDat encoder so there is no need to insert the motor in AS. But anyways, find the upgrade attached.

Best regards
Lukas

We were able to complete the tests, thank you.
One last question, if I need to add another engine model to the software, where can I find the file?

Hello @Henrique_Araujo the 8MS motor upgrades are only available after login on the homepage by somebody who has ordered such motor.
So first, you need to be able to login on the B&R website (here your local Sales representative can help). And second the motor must be linked to this account.
In case of any issues, the local Support or Sales representative should be able to provide the motor upgrade.
