SafeDESIGNER 4.4.1.0: "The current configuration of access modules is invalid!" immediately when opening SafeDESIGNER

Hello everyone,

I am facing a SafeDESIGNER issue and would appreciate any ideas on where to investigate further.

Problem Description
When starting SafeDESIGNER, the following error message appears immediately:

“The current configuration of access modules is invalid!”

The message appears as soon as SafeDESIGNER is opened. It is not related to compiling the safety application or connecting to the safety controller.

What I have already verified

  • The same project opens and works correctly on another laptop.
  • On the affected laptop, other projects that work on different PCs also show the same error.
  • Therefore, the issue does not appear to be related to the Automation Studio project, Safety configuration, or application programming.
  • The problem seems to be specific to the local SafeDESIGNER installation or environment on this laptop.
  • The affected laptop was originally configured with Korean language settings. I changed the language to English and rebooted the laptop, but the issue persists.

Software Environment
Automation Studio: 4.12.5.95
SafeDESIGNER: 4.4.1.0
Operating System: Windows 11

Hardware
Controller: APC910
Safety Controller: X20SL8100
Safety Module Version: 1.10.12.0

Has anyone experienced a similar issue or knows what could cause this error?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hello,
i am not aware of this issue.

I the past there were several issues if .NET 3.5 is missing. Did you check if this was installed on your Windows.

Greetings
Michael

Hi Michael,

thank you for your suggestion.

.NET Framework 3.5 was already installed on the affected laptop. In the end, I was able to resolve the issue by completely reinstalling SafeDESIGNER. After the reinstallation, SafeDESIGNER started normally and the error no longer occurred.

Thank you very much for your help and support.
