General Overview
The goal of these posts are to share photographs of unboxing B&R hardware to help spread the knowledge about B&R packaging for particular items. You may be asking “Why post this?” We have found at times that customers fear they might be missing something, or are unsure as to what certain items are when they open the “box” for the first time. Without prior knowledge on what all comes with the hardware when shipped, it can be a challenge without having a reference. That’s where the “What’s in the Box?” idea came to fruition. To share the experience, and knowledge on what are included in the boxes and descriptions/information about these items.

X20IF1063-1
Today, we will be showcasing the X20IF modules. Specifically the X20IF1063-1.
What’s unique about the X20 boxes is a cut-out on one side of the box. This gives you the ability to quickly identify the part number and serial number of the item inside the box without having to take out.
Once opened you can find the module snugged between a internal wall separating itself from the additional papers included inside the box.
Fun fact there’s a unique feature for X20 If module boxes that are using RS232 connections. Because of the unique shape of the module, a tiny flap is positioned between the lower half of the module and the inner side of the box to prevent the module from rattling around during transportation.

Once everything is removed from its packaging you should have the following
Its a known behavior to where customers tend to throw away these papers that are included in the box. Before you do so, make sure to take a look at what there saying before tossing them aside, as they tend to have some useful information that could help you out while commissioning your machines. For example, take a look at the smaller paper that was included with the X20IF1063-1. If you look closely the paper states, if you are using Automation Studio less than 3.0.90, make sure that the version of the X20IF1063-1 (within the Automation Studio project) is 1.1.0.0 or higher before commissioning.
