What's in the box? - X20SLX806-1

Welcome back to another addition of “What’s in the box?”

General Overview
The goal of these posts are to share photographs of unboxing B&R hardware to help spread the knowledge about B&R packaging for particular items. You may be asking “Why post this?” We have found at times that customers fear they might be missing something, or are unsure as to what certain items are when they open the “box” for the first time. Without prior knowledge on what all comes with the hardware when shipped, it can be a challenge without having a reference. That’s where the “What’s in the Box?” idea came to fruition. To share the experience, and knowledge on what are included in the boxes and descriptions/information about these items.

X20SLX806-1
Today we have the privilege to do an unboxing for the X20SLX806-1, one the many new Safety+ hardware planned to be released later this year.

Upon opening the box I noticed something odd. The safety paper was missing :open_mouth:

Fear not, as this is expected. lets take a look at the revision number once the module is taken out of the box.

What’s interesting is the addition of a QR code on the side of the module.

Back in October of 2024, the B&R logo had recently changed its design, giving B&R the opportunity to update & improve the laser images of B&R’s X20 products. This change included:

New B&R Logo
QR code (instead of pinout) with direct link to landing page of the module on our website
New ABB font

For reference, heres an example of the difference using the X20DI9372

With the usage of the QR code on the module, an additional instruction leaflet is no longer necessary. This is why the additional instructions that we’ve been accustomed to is not longer included.

Lets also take a look at the revision information. You can see that its “B0”.

For those who are not aware, when a B&R released hardware is available to the public, the first revision is usually “C0”. Revision versions below “C0”, are an easy indication of a pre-release version of the hardware. If you are ever concerned as to whether the pre-release versions may behave different to the released versions, go ahead and contact our B&R support team as they can verify whether or not there are any differences between pre-released and released version of hardware. Just in case there is any concern here about the revision “B0” I’ve gone ahead and verified with this module that the version “B0” behaves exactly the same as the revision “C0”
