Hi, do I need an external power source to connectet sensor with 4-20mA output signal? It is not sure for me from the documentation.

Hello,

You did not add the Information which Sensor you wan’t to use.
Typicaly the Sensor has a 3 Pin Contact

 +Supply 24V                      -> From anywhere where you get Supply   
 Signal 4-20ms                    ->  X20AI + 
 GND                              ->  X20AI -  / also Connect to your Supply

The question was general about type of sensor. I thought from this wiring diagram, that I can connect 2wire sensor directly, for example VEGABAR82.

X20AI + to sensor + and X20AI - to sensor -.

But your answer means, this is not possible, I need external power source (Like you wrote, From anywhere where you get Supply). So, thanks

Hello,

There are 6 different versions of the Sensor available, as far as i understood. Each has its own set of pin connections. Only Version 4 Two-Wire HART has only 2 pins.

If you wan’t to use a HART Device, you must use a compatible AI-Card.
For example this X20AI2438 has HART Support.
