I am creating an IO configuration using the high-density analog input X20AI8039. When I select “Project-Analyze Hardware Configuration” I get “Error 1520: The power supply in the IO bus is not sufficient. A power supply module must be inserted before module X20AI8039_b”
AS Help says it consumes the power below, but it does not discuss what load each AI module contributes based on its configuration. I would expect the RTDs, to consume some power additional power when enabled. It seems to the power calculation for AS6 HW upgrade may be incorrect, since this module does not have any Digital in/outputs.
You can check the details of the power supply calculation by opening the hardware configuration analyzer (Top menu of Automation Studio → Open → Hardware Configuration Analyzer) and selecting the power consumption tab.
But the reason for the error message is most likely your X20DMF320 module, that is before the X20AI8039, please check the power consumption for that module. Mostly affected by the load of outputs, how many are expected to be on simultaneously and how much current will be drawn from the outputs.
This was investigated by the local B&R support team and found this is an issue with the v1.0.0.0 HW upgrade for the X20AI8039 (for both AS v4 and v6). This has been reported for resolution and Adam will be notified directly with the issue has been fixed.
