X20SM1436 "M" LED not lit

I have replaced the stepper motor, replaced the card, inputs are signaling as I turn the stepper motor. I do not have access to the program. Why would the Motor active not be on ?

Hello,

  • Do you get any Error Message out of the Machine?
  • I assume the Machine did worked before, what has changed?
  • If Motor and Module Itself is checked, i would only consider the Input Supply to the Module. There should be a 24-39VDC Supply on the lower two contacts (see Picture)

No alarm or error message on the machine, they don’t use this skewing motor that often, so I am unsure how long this hasn’t worked or what has changed since it last worked. There is 24v dc on the lower 2 contacts.

Hello,

Thanks for the Update on this.

Lets sum up again:

  • there are no errors
  • you checked Motor (Resistance of both Windings to be nominal)
  • Motor can be moved Manualy and is not Blocked
  • Enocder ABR IO-LEDs are indicating Motion
  • Power (24V) is supplied on X20-SM-Module Supply Contacts

Ok, additional Hardware Question - related to the Topic of X2X Communication

  • Is the R-LED on the SM1436 constand Green ?
  • Is this the last X20-Module or is it in middle of the X20-Block (are there other Module working behind) ?

Is it possible to get access to the Logger of the Machine

  • Do we know the IP-Adress and can try to access SDM
    http://{IPAddress}/sdm
    Accessing System Diagnostics Manager
  • Do you have Automation Studio of any Version available and can use a Dummy Setup to try to access Logger
  • Which PLC is in use, if it has a CF-Card. Can you load the Logger from the CF-Card while Machine is Switched OFF by Removing Card and use CardReader.

But the best case would be if you know the Machine Builder and ask there for Help.
It is possible that there is some Software Related Release Logic for the Motor which is missing any Parameter and we can’t know…

Michael
