I suppose at the time this manual was written the operating systems were available for download from the B&R homepage
Nevertheless the IF260 is obsolete since years and the OS versions got removed from the homepage
“Choose the right version” means you should download a version suitable to your CPU and machine - if you tell us which version you would need we could take a look if we have it

Many of their products use the IF260, CP260, and CP153, all without CF. I can’t list the specific operating systems one by one, as each device may be different. If the official website has deleted this information, is there any way to back up the operating system from the old CPU and download it to the new one? Thank you!

A CP153 does not work “standalone” - there is memory plugged into this PLC
The operating system is placed on this memory which is called (for example) ME953 - you need to know which memory is plugged in this PLC
Here is V201 for all available PLCs including the CP153 memory units
