I have a project that I have changed the IF5-EthernetIP address sucessfully. But when I go to the SDM under System/General. It shows another Ethernet address SL1.SS1.IF2.ETH. I am wondering where this is in the AS 4.0.29 project and what is it for.
SS1.IF2 refers to the POWERLINK interface. Since POWERLINK uses the MAC and IP ADDRESS layers of the Etherent spec, it has a IP address set automatically as part of the specification. It defaults to the 192.168.101 subnet. 240 is the Managing node per the POWERLINK spec. All other POWERLINK nodes get the last octet of their IP address from their node number.
Ok, makes sense..
However I have another machine that this IP is missing from the SDM and we are having issues with the I/O reading from the X20. Could this be the reason?
Powerlink settings could be the cause of I/O issues, but it’s not possible to draw a conclusion like that without more information.
What I/O problems are you seeing? Do you have any specific errors or Logger messages you can share?
There are realy no errors to speak of, just the HMI alarms that pop up. In this case I knew it was not reading the I/O because of the ESTOP alarm. The programmed alarm was triggering and the input to the module was fine. In addition to this, the online Harware Compare is totally blank on the target side.
I did compare the 2 projects (IF2 Configuration) and made some changes there and this seems to have fixed the read issues.
Now back to the issue I was trying to fix when I created the I/O read issue.
Hello,
