Experience with AS and TIA Portal

Hello, everyone. I’m an engineer from China. This is my first project using B&R. I’d like to share my experience with AS software and TIA Portal. In terms of usage habits, there’s not much difference between the two. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages. The automatic variable declaration feature in AS is quite useful during programming. It has encapsulated many function blocks, saving a lot of time for the project. Personally, I think the configuration process is a bit too complicated. For example, after adding hardware, it would be better if some configurations could be added automatically instead of manually configuring them for these hardware. In terms of data operations, it’s necessary to convert the data to get accurate results, which is a bit inconvenient. For instance, when I need to perform operations between INT and REAL data, I’m used to doing it directly in the TIA programming way to get the correct result. But in AS, doing so leads to inaccurate results. In terms of visualization, I may not have discovered how to use some other controls yet. Currently, the visible controls are not particularly numerous. I hope AS software can have a Chinese version as soon as possible. There are many engineers in the field of automation in China, but very few use AS. This might be related to the lack of a Chinese version of AS. Overall, AS is still a very good software. For technical support, the forum is a good choice. Thank you, friends!

Good to know that we have someone here who knows TIA Portal. From time to time, there are questions related to TIA Portal, such as how to configure communication to B&R. So you can maybe help with these questions

Sure, if there are any questions about TIA, I’ll be more than happy to answer them for you, as long as I know the answers.

la stessa cosa vale per la lingua italiana………certo che numericamente contis

Regarding Chinese language support:
We do know that this is an issue in the Chinese market, that’s why AS Code (advanced code editor for our Logical View) has Chinese language support.
For AS itself it is basically impossible to add another language, but in the future development of our software products this is different

Other languages will also be easier to add in AS Code if we see a lot of requests regarding those, but for now we are focusing on supporting English, German and Chinese.
