HMI for X20CP0483

HI, we have an X20CP1684 PLC with a 10.4" VGA HMI, 5AP1120.1043-000 + 5PPC2200.AL02-000
We want to to change to X20CP0483 and use the same HMI, but I can’t select it in AS 4.12

Should this work?
If not, is there one that will work - must be same cut out width or less

Thanks,
Brian

Hi,

sounds like you’re using the so-called “Visual Components Remote” functionality (where the PLC acts a terminal server and the panel is directly connected to the ETH interface of the PLC in AS hardware tree), right?

Unfortunately, as I know, VC Remote isn’t supported by ARM targets (like all Compact-S targets, for example X20CP0483), but only by Intel targets.
The’re no PLCs with the same dimensions as a Compact-S, the only other embedded PLC family supporting VC remote could be the X20EM system which has lower width then X20CP1684, but not the same overall small size as X20CP0483 (haven’t tested it, but at least it can be configured as VC remote server in AS4.12).

Best regards!

Thanks Alexander, yes we are using Visual Components Remote, so that makes sense. Pity there isn’t a compatibility guide in the help somewhere

When I mentioned cut out width, I meant the HMI width, not the PLC
The Power Panel T30 - 10.1" 6PPT30.101G-20B will fit, but I can’t find a 4:3 panel, so will have to re-draw all the pages
Thanks,
Brian

Hi,

I’m not sure if it’s worth to mention, but would it be possible to keep the existing system, using a GPOS (Windows, Linux) on this device, and switching to “pure VNC viewer” on that device?

Best regards!

Thanks Christian, I was looking in the hardware section - should probably be there too

Thanks Alexander, I’ll look into that vs using the Power Panel T30

Hi Brian,
Have you thought about using a C30 or C70 panel. There are smaller 4:3 options there if cut out is not an issue. It might also be better from cost perspective. Also keep in mind that there is an option to change the resolution in VC4 where you can choose between different conversion options when the ratio changes. There might still be some widgets that you have to adjust but it will get you good portion of the way.

Stephan

Thanks Stephan, none of those go big enough at 4:3 unfortunately
I will give the change resolution option a go when we have decided which way to go

Brian
