Hi B&R community,
Let’s welcome upcoming spring, with an overview of interesting technical guides, improvements, and ideas shared within our B&R Community during Q1 of this year.
So, as usual, grab your
and I wish you happy reading!
1. News in community/in B&R/Innovation
During periodical month reporting I have found out that February 2025 from activity point of view recorded at our Community was the best ever in hour history.
When I compare the data from February 2024 to February 2025, it’s amazing to see how far we’ve come. We have doubled the number of registered users , and the number of page views has increased by 2.6 times. In fact, we reached 250,000 page views in just one month.
I’m really glad that we’re all actively using the Community and that it’s helping all of us in our daily work.
Thank you, everyone, for being part of it.
What is new:
- Conversational Help was released and updated. You can benefit from new Karli client and new updated data model. More info you can find here link
- New innovation 2025 channel was introduced. Together with the R&D team, I would like to share all upcoming innovations here, along with some additional technical information. Feel free to discuss here or ask additional questions.
- New Category Widget Development Tool Chain was created. I’m happy that BRCommunity was selected as the exclusive platform to promote and support solutions developed with this tool.
2. Samples/Wrappers
A big Kudos to everyone who finds the time to share the source code of their solution with us. To make it easier to find these examples, I’ve created a new tag: #toolkit. Feel free to use it to tag your own solutions as well!
3 TOPS from my point view are:
AS-translate TMX shared by Michal. I believe this can save hours of pain when manually translating your texts
BrPyZip shared by Stephan. This easy-to-use tool is great for packing and sharing a project and I also like how Stephan is fast and flexible in fixing issues and adding new functionalities based on your feedback.
JSONer library shared by Jan. Jan was looking for a library here on BRCommunity. He didn’t find one, so he developed his own. Cool, isn’t it?
3. Automation Studio
Solution for Dark theme of Automation Studio as well as where to find additional builds option are always good to know. automation-studio-code is in prerelased phase and we are planning to introduce it here on BRCommunity soon.
4. Communication
Are you curious how to extract OpcUA nodeset file from AS project, some tips you can get here from Eva and Corne. CanOpen wrapper shared by Stephan is also used quite often. And for playing during long dark night, you can try to utilize recently introduced innovation mapp Connect.
5. ArSim/Automation Runtime/Hypervisor
If you are not sure, what options do you have for connection to ArSim, nice overview was shared by Austin. In AR6, multi-core support was introduced and Corne published how to configure it. For Debian12 and hypervisor you need AR 6.0.2 as it was investigated by Martin.
6. Motion/mappMotion
Lot of new features was introduced with mapp Cockpit 6.3 and you can follow them all in this Guide from Michael. Would you like to build your 3D printer using our CNCaxis, follow this discussion where not only Vaclav is trying to help.
7. mappVision
MappVision team is also very active in releasing innovation and worth reading and trying is 2,5D measurement using camera as well as anomaly detection. Feel free to ask questions there or even better ask your B&R area vision expert and share with us your solution.
Much more has happened in our BRCommunity — feel free to share your highlights from the recent period with us!
BRCommunity is made by B&R user for B&R user, and I would like to thank you all who are active here and who shared your thoughts and feedback in our survey.
The survey is still opened, so you can still contribute. I’ve received around 150 responses. I promise to read every single comment and piece of feedback and share my findings with you.
Have a nice Easter holiday!
