AS6.7 Tools - Upgrades stopped working

Hello

After Upgrade to AS6.7, the Upgrade Function in AS stopped working.

Available Upgrades are shown as excpected but after start

either

after 1s AS tells Download is completed but nothing has been downloaded

or

Download starts somehow but the Download stucks in the Download Progress Dialog after in my case (AR 6.7.6) 12MB of 630MB.

Any idea?

Manfred

Hey Mafred,

there is already an thread about this going on, see B&R Upgrades SSL/TLS failed

Hello Kenan

No,

this is a different problem appeared with AS6.7.

Meanwhile we have this Upgrade issue on every PC in our company.

Maybe a problem with the BuR Upgrade - Server at the moment?!

Hello,

I’ve just tried to download and install an AR upgrade in AS 6.7, and it worked as expected. I don’t think there is any upgrade server outage.

Hi Manfred,

I had same issue (AS 6.7) on my pc too yesterday, I manually downloaded all upgrades from our website.
I hope today we have more luck

Hi Manfred,

How long did you wait in the “Stuck” state until you terminated the process?

I had the same issue after upgrading to AS6.7 on my PC today. Then I updated all my PC drivers to the newest versions, did a reboot, and then I started AS anew and the Tools → Upgrades was working again.
Since 11 o’clock, I have been downloading and installing several Technology packets and Hardware upgrades without any further issues.

When I encounter an issue with the tools upgrade, I am trying the following steps. Sometimes this is enough to get it up and running again.
Maybe this can help in your case too?

  1. If Automation Studio is open, close it.
  2. Stop the BrUpgrdSrvAS6:
    image
  3. Delete the file and folder in C:/Temp
    image
  4. (Re) start the BrUpgrdSrvAS6
  5. Start Automation Studio
  6. Open Tools → Upgrades (this can take up to several minutes the first time as the whole upgrade catalog is synchronized. I suggest you give it some time.)
  7. Download a HW package to test if it is working.

I found an Error Log File in my C:/Temp drive next to the Upgrade State file.
Do you have an Error file in the C:/Temp drive as well?

Sometimes there are hints in the Windows event logs (Ereignisanzeige auf Deutsch).
As a workaround, I suggest you use the website to download the necessary upgrades so you can still work.
I also suggest you contact your local support subsidiary of B&R so they can create a support case for further investigation.

Best Regards,
Adrian

Hey Adrian

Thanks for Your reply,

didn’t know that these folders and file came from BuR Upgrade Service!

I tried it again 1 Hour ago without changing anything and it worked as usual.

Maybe there was a real problem with the upgrade service at BuR for a short time…

Manfred

Hello,

Yeseterday I installed AS6.7. and I am not able to login to the Upgrade-Server.

Manual download is possible and also my login-data is known and correct.

I tried to delete c:/Temp without any effect.

Upgrade service shows all available packages, so the service can connect to the server, but I can not download any packages.

1.) When opening the upgrade service there is a pop-up: “The B&R Web server is not available. Please try again later” (translated from german)

2.) All available upgrades are shown

3.) I can select packages but when I try to download them, the pop-up is shown again. In the bottom right corner of the upgrad serive window it says LifeCycle Data is outdated.

Any ideas ?

Best Regards,

Alexander

  • Reinstallation did not solve the problem.
  • Changing the user of the upgrade service did not solve the problem (Link)
  • No obvious certificate-problem as i can access the links and they are shown as safe connection. (Link)

Anyone with similar problems ?

Hi @Alexander_Apos ,
no problem on my side (AS 6.7.0), I just downloaded the lates AS Help:

General recommendation: if the sequence posted by Adrian doesn’t solve the issue we should report that to our Support and not to the Community.

Thanks

Same Issue with me after upgrading from 6.5.3 to 6.7. Had similar issue with 6.5, resolved it but upgrading to 6.7 has stopped the upgrade working.

When I first open the upgrade tool, error window says no connection to the internet.

I click ok, and all the upgrades appear.

I click the ones I want and select Download.

Error message says the username or password is incorrect.

I cannot Logon to the site from the upgrade service, but I can Logon with a browser.

Any help appreciated

Hi @Mark_Pain have you solved your issue, can you update us?

Hi,

Thanks for checking in, but still manually downloading upgrades.

Upgrade tool now has a red warning on bottom status line that “The user name or password of the BR Login is incorrect”, but unless that is now different from my normal BR Login it is incorrect. Upgrades are all still visible.

Hello,

Generally, you don’t need to log in for the majority of upgrades.

Have you contacted local B&R support, as suggested earlier in the thread?

Hello,

I’m not sure if any of the issues reported here are linked to the following information:
in rare cases, we saw some strange behavior of the online upgrade function in combination with IP V6.
The effect was different depending on the upgrade service setting (local system account versus user account), sometimes list was shown but upgraded were not downloaded (timeout or similar), with different service setting a message like “no connection to internet” was shown.

In our cases, temporary deactivating the IP V6 protocol on the Windows Ethernet Interface lead to normal operation of online upgrade functionality - if possible, it would be very interesting if someone can try this also (if possible, as elevated user rights are necessary to change network settings in Windows) to see if something changes?

Best regards.
