Important Incompatibility: SYCON.net is not compatible with the Hilscher DTM library and cannot be installed on the same PC.

.NET Framework 3.5

If DTM functions aren’t working properly, enable .NET Framework 3.5 in Windows Features. Follow the Microsoft guide for activation.

Automation Studio < 4.12 and DTM 2.x

DTM 2.x is fully supported with Automation Studio 4.12 and newer versions. Older AS versions may experience compatibility issues.

Recommendation: Migrate from AS4 to AS6 for full DTM 2.x support.

Workaround: Revert to DTM 1.x by uninstalling all Hilscher software products (especially “Device Library”), then reinstalling the latest DTM 1.x version. Note that DTM 1.x is not officially tested with AS 6.5, but based on functional compatibility, it should work.

Additional Note: Automation Studio versions below 4.12 are not supported on Windows 11. Consider using Windows 10 for older AS versions.

Region/Language Settings

Unusual Windows Region/Language settings may cause DTM issues. Try switching to English to resolve the problem.

Complete DTM Removal and Reinstallation

If you need a clean DTM installation:

  1. Uninstall all DTM installations via Windows functions

  2. Ensure nothing from Hilscher is still installed (check for “DTM” and “hilscher” in the apps)

  3. Delete the folder “SYCONNet” from C:\ProgramData

  4. Delete the folder “Hilscher GmbH” from C:\Program Files (x86)

  5. Take a look at the Registry (“regedit”) if Hilscher got deleted within “Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Hilscher GmbH”

    -> “Device Library” and “DTMs” and “GenericSlaveDTM” should be gone

  6. Grant the user FULL Admin Rights

  7. Reinstall latest DTM version. This time the registry should contain Device library and DTMs:

  8. If above visible entries are NOT here the installation failed (please note that the amount of “kryptic” entries can vary but at least a few must be available)

  9. Start AS and the errors should be gone (probably you have to delete the NetX/DTM card and reenter it again)
