Hardware problem: Ethernet node with source address 1 exist more then once

Hi
I am Anna, a student of University of Padua.

I’m working on Automation Studio for a class project.
Every time I open Automation Studio this messange in the photo appears:

I open the System Diagnostics Manager and it says the hardware has an error, but I don’t understand where and how I can fix it.
Thanks

Hi,

and welcome to the community.
The message means, that more then one system with identical hardware address is in the same network.
This hardware address mentioned here is also known as INA address, which is a B&R specific address used with the INA protocol (it’s not the IP address, but something different) has to be unique in the network.

Since INA is a old, legacy protocol (the nowaday systems use ANSL protocol), can you please post the Automation Studio version and the concrete hardware (name, order code) you’re using?
Then it’s easier to give a concrete hint, what and where to change the address.

In general, many devices have some turn switches on them to change this INA address, but this depends on the hardware.

I know this message from the past, it happened very often because the hardware device has INA node number 1 set, and Automation Studio (which has a INA address, too
It’s the so called source address, SA, which is set in the online connection parameters) uses address 1 as default.
So if this is the case, you have to change the addess on the hardware, or in Automation Studio - both is possible, but depends on the hardware and software version used.
If you share those informations with us, I think we can give a more concrete advise.

Best regards!

Hello,

Thank you Alex for the very detailed explanation about the cause.

For a long time i did not had this warning , but nowadays it sometimes pops again up on my pc. In general i ignore it and normaly you will not see an effect.

So you can decide if you wan’t to invest time to detect the cause or just continue work.

Greetings
Michael
