Using the web server works for newer EtherNet/IP bus controller modules. However, older firmware versions are not compatible with modern web browsers. The classic error signature is that the web page loads, but no values are populated.
If you do not have access to an old Internet Explorer browser, then you can use the following workaround through the ModbusTCP toolbox.
Alternative Method using ModbusTCP Toolbox:

Download the X20BC0088 firmware and extract the .zip file (link below).

Download, extract, and install the ModbusTCP Toolbox (link below):

Set both dial switches on the X20BC0088 bus controller to point at F (one notch counterclockwise from 0).

Power cycle the X20BC0088 bus controller.

Plug in a network cable from the X20BC0088 to your laptop.

Set your laptop’s IP address to be 192.168.100.100 (subnet mask = 255.255.255.0) on the Ethernet interface connected to the X20BC0088.

Open the ModbusTCP Toolbox software.

Use the top menu item Tools > Firmware Update.

Click Next. Enter 192.168.100.1 as the IP address of the bus controller. Click Next.

Click Select Firmware Folder to select the folder where the firmware was extracted in step 1. Click Update.

Wait for the update to complete.

Power cycle the bus controller to take the new firmware.
